Just added a CV1075 to the KT66 page – but it is a very different shape to the ‘traditional’ KT66 we all know and love – http://www.tubecollector.org/kt66.htm
BVA162
Just got a BVA162 – its on the CV65 page (must take a new pic of the CV65!).
There were a few BVAxxx valves. Somewhere I had a list of them, can’t find it now!
Menus and buttons
I finally got round to altering the menu buttons and the URLs they target – it will take a little while to edit all the files (automatic edit, but still takes time)
E4T
http://www.tubecollector.org/e4t.htm
This is an unusual valve and I have not yet found information on it. One Google reference suggests it is a time delay relay. The electrode structure suggests a source of electrons and a triangular gap where maybe an electron beam travels. Thinking of the E1T, perhaps the beam switches between two sides, thus forming a beam switch.
Auctions
After fiddling with a couple of WordPress auction plugins I settled on one – the auction site is http://vacuumtube.virtual.museum/auctions/
KTZ73
Just added a KTZ73 to the CV1343 page. The CV1343 EVS data says it is based on a modified KTZ73. However, all the information I can find on KTZ73 says it has a metallised coating, yet the example does not. It has a wire out of the top of the base shell which would connect to the coating so I guess it simply never got that far. All the CV1343 examples either have the coating or a metal shell.
There are no other marks on the KTZ73.
Bids! (updated)
I recently added an auction function to this blog, the aim being to auction off valves to support the virtual museum. It has now been removed, and will be set up soon on one of my other websites.
For me, ebay is now a buyers-only market – the costs are prohibitive and the rules, and the fact you now must set up paypal to pay ebay charges automatically means I will not sell there. This is just me, I can see the value of ebay and I’ve had a load of stuff from it and have sold well on it, in a very small way. But for the few things I have it simply is not appropriate any more.
What was the last CV number?
This question was posted on the TCA list a few weeks ago. It got me checking. The CV Register of 1963 goes as far as CV12004, which is a CV7004 that has only been tested to group A in the EVS tests.
It seems that CV11230 is the last actual valve, the rest being semiconductors.
But there is also a CV12253 and I now have one. Google also finds reference to a CV12254.
So, is this really a CV or just marked that way? Hard to tell from the device which did not come in any original packaging. If it is, why such a big gap from CV12004 to CV12253?
