This device has a 'dumb-bell' resonant slot. It was designed to be clamped into a waveguide.

The gas filling was argon at 700mm Hg; no water vapour was necessary as a fast recovery time was not as important as that of a TR cell. The nominal wavelength of operation is 3.2cm
