Corona Stabilisers

These devices use a wire anode within a cylindrical cathode in hydrogen gas. Typical applications include use as shunt stabilisers in the power units for GM tubes, photomultipliers, CRTs and other low-current electron-beam devices. They also find use as voltage reference tubes. Unlike glow-discharge types of stabiliser, these tubes can be constructed for higher voltages and lower operating currents.
