Tung-Sol 316A / VT191 HF 'doorknob' triode

The valve measures 70x55mm overall and has a 4-pin base.

This valve gives useful output at 500MHz. It would oscillate to 750MHz. It has a thoriated tungsten filament. See also the GEMA TS1a.

K18193 is written on the inside of the envelope, and the valve is marked both 316A and VT191.

Internal structure of the valve showing cooling fins. Due to the close spacing and small components the anode has a lot of heat to radiate. the wire in front connects the grid and acts as the top support via an insulator. The top connection is one end of the filament.
